Farewell to a great man

by J. Patrick Reily

Jimmy Carter lived to be 100 and was a blessing to our country.  The 39th US President died this past week after spending a year in hospice.

Carter was a one term President.  He lost to another high quality Presiden when Ronald Reagan pulled the most votes in the next election.

For those of us who admire good works and doing the right thing, well that was Jimmy Carter.  He was a very fine man, one who was always present for America.  His work with Habitat for Humanity was legendary as was his work with health care and foreign diplomacy.

Jimmy Carter did not receive the respect he deserved at the time but I am sure as we move toward his funeral the really gret things he did will come to the surface.

Jimmy Carter was a great man and we will leave it at that.  Our country is better off because of his leadership and his compassion.

May he rest in peace.
