Dodgeville grad wins Gradnick Award


The Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT) is proud to announce that Teresa  Mueller, a 1985 graduate of Dodgeville High School, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Anthony J. Gradisnik Award. This accolade honors individuals outside the world language teaching profession who have shown exceptional enthusiasm and advocacy for language education.

Teresa Mueller's journey with the Verona Area International School (VAIS) began on January 18, 2010, when a group of dedicated parents, including Mueller, requested the creation of a K-5 charter school focused on Mandarin Chinese Immersion. The School Board approved this vision, leading to the establishment of VAIS. Over the years, the school has flourished, thanks in large part to Mueller’s unwavering dedication. In fact, VAIS was recently named #7 in Wisconsin Elementary Schools and #2 in Wisconsin Charter Elementary Schools for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report...
