Dodgers go deep to take down Cuba City
Live by the three, die by the three or in the case of the Dodgeville boys basketball team, win by the three.
The Dodgers reigned in 13 of them in Jerry Petitgouge gym Monday, eight in the second half, and turned back Cuba City 75-57 in a non-conference game.
Both teams played their way to a 29 all tie at the end of the first half. Then the threes started to fall and the Cubans had to abandon their inside oriented game to try and catch up. The Cubans did nail eight threes but it wasn’t enough.
Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard drained four triples the second half and made some tough shots look easy. He led the Dodgers with 24 points, 18 coming to help put the Cubans away the second half.
Jayce Halverson was one better in three point makes with five and was right behind Crubaugh-Lockard with 23 points.
Isaiah Argall also got into double figures with 10 as he came off the bench for a pair of threes.
John McGraw finished the lucky 13 with a pair of threes the first half.
Gavin Vaassen led Cuba City with 17 points and Breyden Johll added 15.
Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw is pleased with how the Dodgers are finishing the regular season.
“The guys put together another solid game and came out on top.” McGraw said. “We shot the ball very well but what I liked most is that the majority of the shots we got were from good decisions made by our guys. Making the extra pass, setting good screens. It was a nice win and its nice to be playing our best basketball this time of year.”
The Dodgers close out their SWC and regular season tonight at Richland Center. They open the post season hosting Mauston Tuesday.
