Arrows pull away at the end to trip Dodgers

It was a much closer game than the 76-69 finale that resulted in a Lancaster boys win over Dodgeville in a SWC game Friday.

The Dodgers were tied with the Flying Arrows at 21 all before a 16-8 scoring difference gave Lancaster a 37-29 halftime difference and it took a buzzer beating banked-in three by Griffin Busch to get that close.

The Dodgers fought back and had the game tied late in the second half before the Arrows pulled away for the win.

Dayne Kauffman had a 17 point second half on the way to a 31 point game to help turn back the Dodgers. He was 14 for 19 from the free throw line.

Tyler Timmerman also reached double digits for the Arrows with 10.

John McGraw was back in he line up for the Dodgers after missing the Barneveld game with an illness. The senior celebrated his return with a 22 point performance with four three pointers.  

Jayce Halverson also drilled four triples and finished with 16 points.  Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard was also a double figure scorer with 15.

Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw saw some silver linings in his team’s play.

“We did a lot of good things,” he said.

He was also impressed with John McGraw’s comeback performance.  

“John played his best game offensively, coming back from being sick,” he said..

“One stretch of turnovers against Lancasters 1-3-1 put us in a bit of a hole,” said coach McGraw.  “We battled back and took the lead with about five minutes to go but we couldn't finish it off.”
