Sterling and Shannon Sharp, two iconic Green Bay Packers NFL football players, became the first ever brothers combination to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That’s pretty special, and deserving and another feather in the Packers’ cap!

This coming Sunday, from 8:00-noon at the Dodger Bowl the Dodgeville Lions Club will be serving their “Community FREE Pancake Breakfast.” Yes, it’s free, but donations will be taken that will go totally to the Iowa County Food Pantry. There will also be eye screening available for youngsters and just a good time talking with your friends or even meeting people you didn’t know before. That’s a great thing about events like this!

Saturday morning breakfast took us to the north, but not far, with the threat of snow on the way. We landed at Anita’s in Spring Green, a place we love to go to but hadn’t been there in a while. We saw Sofit and his wife working away in the kitchen with Danika (pronounced Daneeka) and Arletta as our waitstaff. Danika was our main server with Arletta bringing coffee as she has waited on us a lot over the years (Arena first) and knows how much coffee we drink! We had “not so newbie” Royce Wehrle join us again as he said he was taking Potsie’s place, who is under the weather! Dave Stone came from Klevenville and Dewey just had a mile or so to go from his trailer home by the Riverside Inn. It was Tom driving Bob, me and Royce from Dodgeville. Terry stayed home to work on the brakes of his vintage car! We had omelettes, eggs and bacon, stuffed French toast and corned beef hash. That gave us a good selection with everything being great!

This Saturday will be the WIAA Division 2 and 3 wrestling tournaments. They are very close by as Dodgeville hosts D2 and Mineral Point D3. It should be a dogfight as to which team will advance to Sectionals from Dodgeville. Iowa-Grant/Highland and Mineral Point will be duking it out for D2 team advancement. There should be several from Iowa-Grant/Highland, Mineral Point and Pecatonica/Argyle advancing from D3 to Individual Sectionals. Dodgeville and River Valley should have their fair share from D2 also! D3 Sectionals are the following weekend in Westby and D2 is in Wisconsin Dells. Good luck to all of the area teams/individuals on their quest to get to “The Barn” for Team State and the Kohl Center for Individual State!

We had several grass fires reported for fire departments to fight towards the end of January and now this past Saturday there was another one reported while it was snowing a little! The weather isn’t the only thing that has been really weird this winter!

We sure did have a lot of wind last week. One of the days a dumpster that we have sit outside sheltered by our building went out into the road leading into the courthouse parking lot. My home recyclable garbage can was missing for two days, but I found it down over an embankment across the road from my house. It was too windy and late at night to find it earlier! Then, the porta potty that sits outside by the “old jail” next to the Chronicle blew over. Boy it was a good thing someone wasn’t in it!

Well the Super Bowl is over. I don’t really care for either team, but was hoping all along that the Eagles would beat the Chiefs, only so the Chiefs didn’t tie the Packers for winning three in a row! And that’s what happened!

Today, Thursday, February 13 is international “Madly In Love With Me Day”, a day that I was figuring would be a day people would fall in love with me being the day before Valentine’s Day. But I was wrong. It's a day to celebrate self-love, compassion, and care for oneself. I would much rather have it the other way!

Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day on Friday!
