Norman Leroy Johnson Jr., age 73, of De Forest, WI, passed away peacefully following a long battle with cancer on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Aspen Place in Viroqua. Norman was born on March 14, 1951, in Dodgeville, WI to the late Norman Leroy Johnson Sr. and Dorothy (Butteris) Johnson. He married Karen Copus and they had three children and later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Shari Dahl and they had three children. Norman worked at U.W. Hospital in Madison doing custodial work and later worked part-time at Capital Ford until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, breakfast at 4am, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Josh (Dawn) Johnson, Jason (Teresa) Johnson, Dawn (Shawn Wagner) Campbell, Randy (Jessica) Dahl, Raymond Johnson, and Felicia (Darryl Andrews) Krueger; his grandchildren, Damian, August (Leah), Taylor (Hayden), Aaron (Cameo), Chase, Miles, Blaze, Steel, Jax’n, Nova, Isiah, Elyjah, Nickali, Kaylie, Jace, Ryan, and Liliana; his great-grandchildren, Alena, Issac, David, Bianca, Hayden Jr., Yvonne, and Akira; his siblings, Sharon (Alan) Wheeler-Johnson, David Johnson, and Carla Johnson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy Johnson; his wife, Shari Johnson; two siblings, Dallas Johnson and Carol Kruger; his grandson, Seth Barlass; and his mother-in-law, Mary Gage.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. A reception will follow at Old Towne Inn. A funeral service for Norman will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, 402 S. Main St. in Poynette, WI. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Norman will be laid to rest at the Hillside Cemetery, Poynette. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
