Buckingham, Joyce Elaine

Joyce Elaine Buckingham, age 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025 in Mineral Point, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 3, 1925, in Livingston, WI, Joyce was the daughter of Allie and Mae Millard. While Joyce was an only child, she was never alone because she grew up alongside her Millard cousins.  She graduated from Livingston High School in 1943 and went on to earn a business degree from Madison College.

Joyce had a lifelong passion for dancing and big band music, and it was during this time that she met Delwin Buckingham. Their shared love of music and life led them to marry on June 29, 1947 at Livingston Methodist Church.

Joyce and Delwin built a life together, beginning with nothing but their hard work and determination. They were true partners in creating a successful family farm and were blessed with two wonderful children. Their 60 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and countless memories before Delwin's passing in 2007.

She was a dedicated member of the community, serving as a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and as an active member of the Greysville Homemakers Club. Joyce was also deeply involved in the First Congregational UCC Church of Mineral Point, where she was a member of its Women's Fellowship.

For more than a decade, Sienna Crest Mineral Point was her home.  She would strike up a conversation with anyone and was willing to lend an ear to all.  We thank the staffs at Sienna Crest, Upland Hills Homecare and Hospice and Dr. Aaron Dunn for all the care, compassion and support they have given Mom and our entire family over the years.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Buckingham of Madison, WI; Robert (Melanie) Buckingham of Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren, Danica (Mike) Lewis of Oshkosh, WI, Adam (Emily) Buckingham of Verona, WI; and, great-grandchildren, Alison Lewis, Michael Lewis, Elliot Buckingham and Sylvia Buckingham; former daughter-in-law Jeanne Buckingham; sister-in-law Wilma McCarville and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delwin; her parents Allie and Mae Millard; her father and mother-in-law Roy and Annie Buckingham; and, in-laws William and Lois Buckingham; Joyce and Ellsworth Peterson; Ray McCarville.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 300 Maiden Street, Mineral Point.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:50 a.m. at the church
