Dodgers see Platteville hit their stride early

Dodgeville’s girls basketball team was matching SWC leading Platteville with intensity and hustle but what was missing was the scoring.

The Lady Hillmen cruised to a 39-6 halftime lead and to put all the unquestionable out of the outcome.  Platteville took the decision 65-21.

Quinn Temperly had 17 to lead Platteville with Avery Richard adding  13 and Rianna Dye 10.

Marly McGraw led Dodgeville with six. Emma Dougherty added five with Addison Reilly and Lydia Rielly both netting four.

Dodgeville coach Alan Seabrooke felt the Dodgers started the game competing.

“We came out with a lot of energy and competed right with Platteville for several minutes,” Seabrooke said.  “We did a great job breaking their press, which was a big step in the right direction.”  

But then things took a downward turn for the Dodgers.

“Unfortunately, we turned the ball over in the half court too many times and we didn't shoot very well,” said Seabrooke.  “Platteville is a very balanced team and they shot the ball well.  We did a better job in the second half running our offense and finding different options, but overall our offense is still a work in progress.  

There is an upside, Seabrooke feels.

“The girls are continuing to work hard,” he said.  “We will use this as an opportunity to improve.”

The Dodgers had their Tuesday night game at Barneveld cancelled.  They are at Richland Center tonight.
