Dodgeville Council Reviews Budget Oversights, Approves Contracts, and Continues Search for Police Officer

At Tuesday’s Dodgeville Common Council Regular Meeting, Police Chief Brandon Wilhelm reported that November had 287 calls for service, a 13% increase from last year. He said for the year 3,336 calls have been called in, an increase of 22%. He also reported that the job opening for the vacant officer position will be reposted. He said there were eight candidates who applied for the position, six of whom met the minimum requirements, and four that were certified, but on the day of testing for various reasons, no candidates attended. He said it is a trend in law enforcement because of the odd hours, risk, and danger that comes with the job.
In his Mayor’s Report, Barry Hottmann said they received another payment on its flexible facility grant for $387,422.17, and that he has had discussion with the Dodgeville School District regarding the Archie Hahn Statue and the district will discuss and get back to the council...
