DODGEVILLE – Helen L. Lee, age 89, passed away on Wednesday July 30, 2025, at her home. She was born on May 29, 1936, to Richard and Melva (Whitish) Peat. On June 16, 1956, Helen married the love of her life, Walter Lee at the First Methodist Church Parsonage in Platteville. They spent many wonderful years together before he passed away in 1996.
Helen was a devoted wife and loving mother who poured her heart into raising her family. After her children were grown, she attended Southwest Technical College where she earned her CNA license. Helen’s big heart and giving spirit carried over as she went on to work as an in-home caregiver, providing comfort and support to others until her retirement. Whether it was her decision to go back to school, picking up new hobbies, or deciding at age 50 to get her drivers license because she was “tired of waiting around for Walter”, Helen never stopped growing and giving to others.
She found joy in the simple things: gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune, and trying her luck at the casino. She loved hosting family gatherings at her home, where she made everyone feel welcome. Helen cherished the people in her life and held their friendships close to her heart throughout the years. She was proud Aaron Roger’s fan and was never one to hold back. She spoke her mind with honesty and humor. Her presence filled the room, and memories of her will do the same for all who knew and loved her.
Helen is survived by her children: Duane Lee of Muscoda, Rick (Judy) Lee of Dodgeville, Rita DuVall of Dodgeville, Julie (Neil) Lee of Pardeeville, Troy Lee of Middleton, and Curtis (Dixie) Lee of Mt. Horeb and Son in-law, Harold Christianson of Dodgeville. She is further survived by her siblings: Wilma McCartney of Lancaster, Ralph Peat or Lancaster, and Shirley (Doug) McCartney of Platteville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; parents; daughter June Christianson, son in-law Lloyd “Joe” DuVall; and grandsons River Lee and Derrick “Pablo” Lee.
