By John Dalton

Both teams got six hits each, but only Pecatonica was able to get runners across the plate in Thursday’s 4-0 win over Highland.

The Vikings would score two runs in the second inning. After Reid Schlimgen walked, Luke Leonard was hit by a pitch thrown by Highland’s John Dreischmeier to put runners on first and second with two outs. Martin Anderson would reach first base on an infield hit, loading the bases. Griffin Noll then connected on a double to left field, scoring Schlimgen and Leonard.

In the third inning, Charles Anderson reached first on a walk. He was able to reach third base on an error by Highland shortstop Jack Tarrell. Anderson then scored as he tagged on Drew Hendrickson’s fly ball to left field, and he beat the throw sliding into home plate, making it 3-0.  Pecatonica would again score in the fifth as Noll scored on a line drive single by Charles Anderson.

Austin Enloe earned the win for Pecatonica as he pitched the entire game, allowing six hits over seven innings. He struck out five and walked one. Dreischmeier took the loss for the Cardinals. The starting pitcher went three innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out three, and walking three. Koyer Zadrazil pitched three innings, allowing two hits, one run while striking out two and walking one.

Noll went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Ashton McNett, Charles Anderson, Martin Anderson, Hendrickson, and Schlimgen each had one hit.
