Dodgers handle Potosi/Cassville 9-1

Sophomore left hander Caden Schneider and junior Boone Rickard combined for a strong pitching performance that sent Dodgeville over Potosi/Cassville in a non-conference baseball game Thursday.

Schneider worked the first five innings. He struck out seven, walked three and spaced four hits.  Potosi/Cassville managed an unearned run in the second.

Rickard shut out P/C in the final two frames, striking out three.

The Dodgers struck early as their first two hitters, Jayce Halverson and Nathan Johnson, coaxed walks and Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard singled to plate Halverson.

After P/C tied it in the second the Dodgers took the lead for good with a run in the third. Joey Honerbaum walked, stole second and scored on a double by Schneider.

The Dodgers opened it up with five runs in the fourth. Four walks, a hit batter and hits by Halverson and Jentry Olson did the damage.

The Dodgers tacked on two runs in the sixth. Honerbaum crushed a home run to left center and Schneider singled, stole second and scored on a fielders choice by Rickard to close out the nine runs.

Schneider was 2x2, Olson 2x3 with one hit each by Halverson, Crubaugh-Lockard, Honerbaum, Andrew Hessling and Blake Stodola.
