Political ad tells me....
Dear Editor,
I heard a political ad on the local radio station today that definitely caught my attention. Derrick Van Orden and/or his campaign staff must have tied themselves in knots to connect the dots on this “guilty by association” ad. At the conclusion of their twisted tale they conclude that Rebecca Cooke is a “defund the police” candidate. How they get there is rather astounding but that’s not the most ironic piece of the scenario.
On January 6, 2021, DVO, by his own admission, was at the Capitol as rioters and insurrections attempted to halt the peaceful transfer of power following a fair and fully adjudicated election. Van Orden claimed he had “stood on the parapet that lines the perimeter of the grounds”. But photos from that day show he would have had to cross police barricades to reach that area. He claims to support and respect law enforcement but his actions on that day show otherwise. His actions speak louder than his self-serving words.
We have an opportunity on November 5th to elect a representative who has experienced life on a small dairy farm, waited tables in a restaurant and helped female entrepreneurs start new businesses. While on the other side of the ballot we have Derrick Van Orden who posted on his personal Facebook page on Labor Day, “I worked with my hands my whole life, I am a Tradesman. My Trade was warfare.” You choose who you feel will represent you best in Washington.
