County approves insurance rate for employees

Iowa County employees will have 75% of their health care premium paid following action by the Iowa County Board last week.

The board was presented with a recommendation that came from the Executive Commitee that had the rate to be paid at 77%.  With a $1.5 million dollar budget deficit staring the board in the face the rate was debated.  In the end the board voted unanimously to amend the rate to 75%.

Employees will pay $119.62 for a single plan compared to $91.06 last year. The rate for a family will be $288.48 compared to $223.11 last year.

The cost to the county for the plan will be $478,662.72.  At 77% the rate would have been $534,063.72. The difference saves the county $55,401.00....
