Lynda Novinski passed away in her sleep on June 10, 2024, at age 84. Born Lynda Neumaier to Norman and Hyldred (Brimer) Neumaier on December 5, 1939, she grew up in Lodi, Wisconsin where she was raised on the family farm and helped to take care of her younger siblings. Growing up she was a member of 4H. Lynda also earned her teaching certification and taught grade school classes for a time.
In July of 1966 she married her sweetheart, Cletus Novinski. In 1972 they picked up the family and headed West to Renton, Washington to help run a freight delivery business with Cletus’ brother, Clement.
Lynda loved to help everyone. She frequently volunteered working in the school library at St. Anthony Catholic School while her children attended grade school. She was also happy to volunteer when someone had a sewing project whether it was to sew costumes for a school play, help make bridesmaid and wedding dresses for friends. She loved to help friends and family with any project.
Lynda’s talent for crafts varied from crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, sewing and quilting. She sewed many of her children’s clothes while they were growing up. For several years she was the 4H leader for a local sewing chapter. She belonged to multiple quilt guilds and quilting circles and met with a small group of quilting friends regularly for coffee, laughter and to share all their latest projects. After having found the joys of quilting she devoted most of her creative time to quilt making and sharing her techniques and skills, which she passed on to both her son and younger daughter. In her last few years Lynda quilted less often and enjoyed passing the time with word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She almost always had a cup of coffee next to her and it was usually cold. Lynda would often laugh and say she drank more cold coffee than hot. It didn’t matter what time a day it was either, she could drink a cup of coffee and go straight to bed. Lynda was well known for her laughter, everyone loved to hear her laugh and commented on it often.
After her husband retired, they spent much of their golden years traveling the country in a pickup and camper. They drove all over the United States finding new routes and places to visit. Their stops included many friends and family along the way. Most often they were not on a time schedule and a two week trip could easily turn into a two month trip, especially if they found themselves anywhere close to Alabama and their grandson Logan. A highlight of their travels was making the drive to Alaska and back. Lynda had a small pocket camera and took pictures everywhere they went.
Lynda is survived by her son Craig, daughter Joetta and son-in-law Lance, grandson Logan; brothers, David (Kathy) Neumaier, Roland Neumaier, Eugene (Diane) Neumaier, Clarence (Karen) Neumaier, Joseph (Della) Neumaier, Howard Neumaier, Duane Neumaier, Royce (Colleen) Neumaier: sisters, Collen (David) Jones, Juanita (Charlie) Beulow; sister-in- law, Margie Neumaier, Donna Neumaier; and from her husband’s family, Clement and Susan Novinski, brother-in-law Kenneth Murray, sister-in-law Sybil Novinski; and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Lynda was preceded in death by her husband Cletus, daughter Stephanie, parents, brothers, Phillip (Nancy), Daniel, Norman Jr, sisters, Margaret Drost and Kathleen Rosemark.
Internment will be October 5th, 2024 at St. Mary Cemetery, Fennimore Wisconsin at 10:30 a.m.
