Janayne M. Spellman, age 78 of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at home. She was born August 29, 1946, in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of LeRoy and Joan (Griffiths) McNeill. Janayne grew up in Hollandale, WI and graduated from Hollandale High School. She later went on to receive her CNA certificate and worked in the healthcare system for many years. Janayne was united in marriage to Leo Spellman on November 15, 1997, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Janayne is survived by her husband Leo at home; her children: Staci Brecklin and Josh (Katie) Blaser both of Darlington; her grandchildren that she absolutely adored: Landon Blaser, Maddy Corley, Zeva Blaser, and Thomas Blaser; and one brother: Earl (Ginny) McNeill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Jami Blaser in 1991; her first husband: Jim Blaser; and one brother: LeRoy McNeill.
Janayne found herself to be most content when she was outside – whether it was tending to her flowers and her garden, watching the birds, traveling to Florida, or camping at River Bay, something she did for 29 years. She was also known throughout the community for her thoughtfulness as she always found a reason to send cards, whether it was to her family and friends, or simply to someone she thought deserved one. She was also very talented in the kitchen and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. When she had some time to herself, she liked to read all different genres of books.
To Janayne, her family was the single most important part of her life. She dedicated her life to making sure her husband, children, and grandchildren all knew how proud she was of them and how much she loved them. She made sure she was always around to cheer them on at their sporting or extra-curricular events, and never missed an opportunity to spoil them.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
A memorial fund has been established in Janayne's name.
