Hornets nip Dodgers 3-2

It was a real battle between Dodgeville and Richland Center in SWC volleyball Thursday that saw the Hornets win it 3-2.

The Dodgers started out strong, outlasting the Hornets 26-24 but RC came back for a 25-22 decision in the second set. The Dodgers then eased to a 25-16 third set win.

The Hornets stormed back and forced a fifth set by taking the fourth match 25-23. RC earned the decision 15-9.

Ava Garthwaite was a force for the Dodgers with 18 kills, 15 assists, three blocks and three aces.

Rylee Forsyth contributed 11 kills, five digs and two aces.

Lily Wiegel led in assists with 23. Vanessa James registered two aces and six digs.

Kayla Brom came up with three blocks.
