Delores "Dottie" Wittman was born in Dodgeville, WI on January 6th, 1933, and passed away on September 2nd, 2024, at age 91. Dottie married Walter Wittman in November of 1951. During their early years they farmed in Hollandale and Barneveld, WI. In 1961 they moved their young family to a farm south of Mount Horeb where Dottie and her family would work the land for the next 56 years before returning to Dodgeville in 2017.
She was a loving wife and mother; thoughtful, kindhearted, and encouraging. She was always generous with her love and support. She put others first, never wanting any credit or special attention for herself. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved her flowers. Her colorful gardens were a stunning sight to see and smell, with many blossoms and birds.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her five children, Blaine Wittman, Randall (Loida) Wittman, Brenda Allard, Pam (Dale) Nelson, and Craig Wittman. Dottie was adored by five grandchildren, Matthew, Cozzette, Scott, Jason, and Kristina; seven great-grandchildren, Makayla, Emma, Alexis, Memphis, Greyson, Autumn, and Claire...along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Walter Wittman who died in October of 1983; her infant son Bruce; her parents Gordon and Ethel Forbes; her brothers Russell and LaVern Forbes; and her sister Marcella "Tootie" Cushman.
"Your life was a blessing,
Your memory a treasure.
You are loved beyond words
And missed beyond measure."
A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Interment at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Dottie's name are greatly appreciated.
