Grimm, M. Joan

M. Joan Grimm, beloved family member and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, 2024. She will be remembered for her warm spirit and joyful presence.

Joan was born April 20th, 1925 to William and Mary (Kieffer) Lawinger in Mineral Point.  On June 3rd, 1948, she married Joseph Lawrence Grimm.  To this union, eight children were born.  She worked at the telephone office, Mills Redwood Restaurant, the Don Q Inn, and the Red Rooster.

Joan found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished moments spent sharing a cold beer with friends and family, playing cards, and baking fresh bread and cinnamon rolls.  Joan's house was a favorite of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they always knew there was a cookie (or three) waiting for them there.  She delighted in the little joys, whether it was indulging in soft serve ice cream from Triple P or savoring candied cherry and orange slices. The comforting aroma of coffee was constant in her home, welcoming all who entered.

A devout individual, Joan often found solace in saying the rosary, reflecting her deep faith.  Her love for her community shone through in her welcoming smile and offers of food and drink to all who stopped by.  Joan was also greatly dedicated to the missions, where she generously made donations as often as she was able.

She is survived by her six children: Ann (Tim) Terrill, Mineral Point, Sue Howdle, Mineral Point, Mary Jo (Buck) Rolli, Mineral Point, Larry (Tawana) Grimm, Middlesboro KY, Marcia (Kent) Roberts, Mineral Point, Gerry (Paige) Grimm, Mineral Point.

In addition, she is survived by eighteen grandchildren: Joe Grimm, Justin (Heather) Grimm, Jarrod (Jordan) Grimm, Becca (Troy) Kroll, Joe (Lindsey) Terrill, Abby (Dan) Allen, Ross (Mai Yia) Howdle, Eli (Etzna) Rolli, Jedd (Renee) Rolli, Uriah (Greta) Rolli, Danielle (Mikey) Idol, Desiree (Darion) Branham, Katie (Andy) Bonnett, Jake (Angie) Roberts, Anna (Jacob) Colden, Maggie (Bryce) Grimm, Anna (Will) Galle, Sarah Galle, twenty-nine great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Joyce Grimm, sisters-in-law Helen Regan and Mary Lawinger, and special friends Elaine Busch, Dorit Bergen, Maureen May-Grimm, Annie Weier, Peter Erbach, and Jane Lawinger.
