Jabs, Ronald W.



Ronald W. Jabs, age 82, of Barneveld passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Platteville.  He was born on October 4, 1942 to William "Virgil" and Evelyn (Kelly) Jabs.  Ron married Anita Forseth on August 7, 1965 and together they raised four children.

A carpenter by trade, Ron and his kindergarten teacher wife took a 19-year sabbatical to operate Ron's Store in Barneveld.  The small community grocery store provided a much needed service for the residents, as well as opportunity for many community teens and young adults to develop practical workforce skills, and earn a small wage while doing so.

Ron is survived by his children, Jerrod (Cassie) Jabs, Jason Jabs, Janna (Jim Zimmerman) Jabs and Justine (Ken Peterson) Jabs, and four grandchildren, Clay Venden, and Josie, Brady and Jaxson Jabs.  He is further survived by his sister-in-law Jeanne Jabs, brother-in-law Dave (Gail) Forseth and sister-in-law Anne Forseth, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Anita on April 27, 2020, his parents, his brother Roger Jabs, his in-laws Harland and Mildred Forseth, sister-in-law Carol (Fred) Ruetten, brothers-in-law Ronald (Donna) Forseth and John Forseth.

Inurnment will occur at 1:15 pm at White Cemetery in Barneveld on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The Celebration of Life will begin after the burial, at 2:00 pm at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm with Pastor Rhia Strohm officiating. A toast to Ron's life will follow the service. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com.
