Vivian, Morris Jerry

Morris Jerry Vivian was born on September 18, 1939 to Morris and Dora Fern (Wasley) in the Linden Township. He passed away on October 14, 2024 at the age of 85 after a long battle with Parkinson's and dementia.

Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Mineral Point High School. He then went on to work at Wisconsin Power and Light from 1959 to 1993.  He married Judy Rule on July 1, 1961, and had two children, Janet and Jeff. He and his wife just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

They both loved to travel, including trips out west. They visited almost every state and traveled to Norway on their 40th wedding anniversary.  Jerry, an avid golfer, got a hole in one at Deer Valley in 2005, and loved to golf with his friends and co-workers. His whole life he enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing for trout, hunting for deer, morels, ginseng, and trapping. Many additional hours were spent going to auctions, bowling, the dog track, and watching Badger/Packer games and golfing on TV.

He will be remembered for teaching the family how to drive a stick-shift car (making each person stop at the steepest hill he could find and starting again without killing the car) and paying for good grades (but he made his children pay him for C's or lower).

He is survived by his children Janet (Todd) Blabaum and Jeff (Carla) Vivian, sisters Nancy Finley and June Goninen, brothers-in-law Jim (Lorie) Rule and Doug Rule (Jeanette Vivian), grandchildren Craig (Sarah) Blabaum, Bryant (Megan) Blabaum, Krystle Blabaum, and Zach Vivian, and great grandchildren Carson, Sophia, Carlee, Jaxon, Elizabeth, and August, and his cats.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Doris Suthers, his brother Bill Vivian, brothers-in-law Mark Rule, Walt Finley, and Alvin Goninen, and sister-in-law Betty Vivian.

Private graveside services will be held at the East Side Cemetery.  The family thanks the staff at Mineral Point Health Services and Upland Hills Health Hospice for taking such good care of Jerry. Online condolences can be left at www.houckfuneralhomes.com

Memorials can be made to Iowa County Humane Society.
