Julie Ann Nilsen, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away from cancer on November 13, 2024, at the age of 63. She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Mark, and their cherished daughter, Stephanie. Julie is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Jim and Joyce Neuendorf of Naples, Florida, her chosen brother and dear friend Troy, and her two beloved cats, Callie and Max.
Born on February 28, 1961, Julie grew up in the small town of Livingston, Wisconsin. She cherished her childhood memories of Castle Rock, where she enjoyed the rivers and streams, and fishing with her father. She loved navigating the outdoors near Castle Rock, exploring surrounded by the natural beauty and occasionally being startled by a snake. Her fond recollections of time spent with her maternal grandmother, including helping at the church hall, were treasures she carried throughout her life.
A passionate lover of music, Julie participated in various musical activities during high school, including swing choir, Talent Hub, the marching band, and the school musical. Her love for music extended to playing the piano, a source of joy for her and those around her.
Julie pursued her passion for helping others by graduating from the Finley School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. She dedicated many years to her career as a registered nurse, providing compassionate care to those in need.
After marrying Mark in Wisconsin, the couple lived in Rock Island, Illinois, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Madison, Wisconsin, before settling in Waukesha, Wisconsin. There, they built a loving home for their daughter and created countless memories over two decades. Julie later returned to school to become an early childhood teacher, sharing her love of learning as a preschool teacher. She later found great joy in her work at the Waukesha Public Library.
For over twenty years, she also worked as a magician's assistant alongside Mark in their family magic show. They performed throughout the Midwest, particularly at summer resorts in Northern Wisconsin, and their daughter Stephanie later joined the show.
Julie recalled many times with her maternal grandmother watching shows such as Ed Sullivan and Hollywood Palace. This sparked her interest in Broadway shows, and she longed to travel to New York City. She found the perfect travel partner in her daughter Stephanie, and the two enjoyed many Broadway shows together.
Julie had a lifelong love of cats, and they were cherished members of her family.
In 2021, Julie and Mark relocated to Naples, Florida, to be closer to her parents, embracing a new chapter in their lives.
