I-G Board hears about wind tower project
The Iowa-Grant School Board heard an update on the wind tower project planned for the area at their monthly meeting Monday
Brandon Davis, a representative from Invenergy, told the board the application for the project has been filed with the PSC and he expects the review to be completed by this time next year. He said construction could begin by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Completion would be by the end of 2026.
He said the project calls for 118 megawat towers that will power 30,000 homes.
The board heard that there is a tower planned within .4 miles of the school. Davis said shadow flicker and noise are not anticipated to be problems.
He outlined safety measures that are in place for any problems that may arise. He also pointed out the area organizations and emergency medical projects Invenergy has given financial support too....
