Peggy (Johnson) Murphy, Our wife, mom, and grandma, went home to the Lord on November 12, 2024 after a six year battle with Dementia. Peggy was born in Stoughton, Wisconsin on September 29, 1946 to Carol Jene (Yost) Johnson and Russell Vernon Johnson. She was raised on the family farm, learning the ethic of hard work. Peggy graduated from Stoughton High School and worked for Wisconsin Bell in Madison as well as Meriter Hospital until she met the love of her life, Douglas Murphy. The two married on May 18, 1968 in Ridgeway, Wisconsin. Together they had two children, Kelly (Galen) White and Shaun (Robin) Murphy.
Peggy & Doug enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Throughout that time, she worked part-time for Livesey Painting Company as a bookkeeper and as a full-time housewife and Mom. Fifty-six years provided them with time to travel, spend time at their cherished cabin on Lake Wisconsin, and always have the most amazing yard and flower gardens in the area.
Peggy’s true pride came from her grandchildren, Michaela (Grant) Jefferies, Rylie Honnold, Trey (Mackenzie Andres) Honnold, Bailey Murphy, and Aiden Murphy. She and Doug would attend every possible event her grandkids were involved in. She was their biggest fan and never failed to remind them of how important, how special, and how loved they were.
Peggy is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren along with her step grandson Cody White, step great grandchildren Hayden & Harper; brother Robert Johnson, Foster Brother John (Joann Teresa), sister Debbie Bowers, sisters-in-law Penny Johnson, Lou Ann Wubbenhorst and Elsie Jane Murphy, and brothers-in-law Donald Murphy and Dean Murphy, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, Marlin & Gretta Murphy, brothers Richard Johnson, Michael Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, and sister Linda Guetzke, along with her sisters-in-law, Shirley Murphy, Delores Murphy, brothers-in-law John Wubbenhorst and Jack Murphy.
