Colin, Laura Bell (Stukey)

Laura Bell (Stukey) Colin, 80, of Mineral Point WI passed away, Monday May 27, 2024 at her residence in the company of family. She was born on 11-28-1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Dorthy Edna (Moore) and Arthur Stukey.(majority of her life recognized her stepfather as her father), Homer Hayes.

She was born oldest of 4, her siblings are: Janet Stukey (Hazelbacker), Terri Stukey, and Charles Homer Hayes. After high school Laura attended Northern Illinois University Deaf Studies in Dekalb Illinois. Shortly before graduation Laura met the love of her life. Laura met the love of her life John “Jack” Colin and the two were married on February 28, 1965. Activities in early life included being together with Jack enjoying the outdoors, rafting, and fishing, snowmobiling, planting flowers and working in the garden. After a brief time of health issues trying to get pregnant, Laura had her first child in 1968.

Laura thrived being a mother to 5 children. As life moved on Laura was always a feisty, direct person, even being hearing impaired, was a no-nonsense girl. Laura loved family time, and later in life going with her friend Charles Halverson to barn dances and going out to eat. Laura is the sweetest, little lady anyone could know and have the privilege to cross paths with. A fierce advocate for all she loved, and trusted. She is totally giving to a fault. Her innocence and kindness were very apparent. Moved by stuffed animals and collecting dolls and taking her to the comforts of Loving children and people of all walks of life. Being an Elvis Presley fan, (mostly because of his swagger and fine hair) allowed her to enjoy being a collector of Elvis related items. Laura also enjoyed collecting Coke a Cola items. Laura was a big fan of puzzles and the word search bundles. One of the things that stand out about Laura is that even at 80 she liked brushing her hair and using hair ties, and ponies in her hair. Family members, and close friends are wearing her hair bands in solidarity to her memory, holding her memory close as she wore every single hair tie/band etc. Laura is United Methodist.

Laura is survived by: (Children) Sandra Kay Colin (William Kasbohm) of Montfort, WI, Tony Ray Colin (Brenda Colin) of Waunakee, WI, Russell Clay Colin of Mineral Point, WI, Kathy Ann Colin-Winslow (Jeremy Winslow) of Gratiot, WI; 24 (Grandchildren): Jessica J.
