Phillips, Alvina Jeanette



Alvina Jeanette Phillips, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on June 18, 1935, in Highland, Wis., the daughter of Renzie and Emma (Erickson) Weber.

She married the love of her life, Stanley Phillips of 66 years. They had two boys, Terry and Wayne.

Alvina was a longtime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She worked for GMAC, JC Penneys, Wisconsin Cheeseman, and Phillips Refrigeration. Over the years she was an active member of the Golden Triangle Drifters snowmobile club in DeForest and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 348 in DeForest. Her and Stan spent the winters in Green Valley, Ariz. for the past 20 years where she enjoyed playing cards and golfing. She loved to can and supplied her family with the labors of her love. During their 66 years of marriage, Alvina and Stan traveled to many places, Alaska being her favorite. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family; her light of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.    

Alvina is survived by her husband, Stan; sons, Terry Phillips of McFarland and Wayne (Marla) Phillips of Ottawa, Ill.; grandchildren, Callie Phillips, Chelsea (Anthony) Rupp, Brandon (Carin) Phillips, and Austin Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Cameron Rupp; brothers, Joe Weber and Mike (Rita) Weber; brother-in-law, Kenny Olson; and sister-in-law, June Weber; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, George and Grace Phillips; brothers, Norman, Nelmer, and Laverne; sisters, Bernice, Rosella, Isabelle, and Ardella; daughter-in-law, Wendy Phillips; and great-grandson, William Rupp.

A funeral service will be held at St Matthew’s (NEW LIFE CHURCH) Lutheran Church, 7564 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024.  Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, and also from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Badger Honor Flight, Agrace HospiceCare and Childrens Miracle Network.
