He was born February 12, 1933 on the farm in Ridgeway, to Kenneth and Adelaide (Chapman) Hubbard, Gerald’s journey was marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. After graduating from Ridgeway High School in 1950 he entered the workforce before serving in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 as a tank mechanic in Germany. Upon returning, he married Inez Marie Foss on November 30, 1957. Together they settled in Ridgeway where they raised their five children Jerry, Terry, Penny, Kay and Cheryl.
Professionally, Gerald enjoyed a successful career as an electrician. He worked for Schultz Electric for the entirety of his career and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union #159 for almost 60 years.
Beyond his professional achievements, Gerald's true legacy lies in the impact he had on those around him. He was a beloved husband, cherished father, doting grandfather, proud great-grandfather, and loyal friend. He and Inez enjoyed traveling, dancing, and being with friends and family. After her passing in 1997, he continued these traditions, attending as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events as possible and creating lasting memories. To his grandchildren, he will always be remembered for his sense of humor, sarcastic one-liners, signature loungewear, and his unwavering support. With special friend, Betty Dietzman, he enjoyed countless adventures; cherishing times spent with both of their families.
