Don’t dump on the roadside

Dear Editor,

“Nothing is a waste of time if you learn something from it.”

How about the following?

Over the past weekend, a bathroom shower/tub was cut apart and dumped on a town road in Iowa County.

Twice a year, the Town of Dodgeville (not the same as the city) offers a clean-up opportunity for its residents. This year, the Spring Clean-up was held on Saturday, April 13.

IF you are a CITY resident, you’ll get your turn the first week of May, 2024. (And the CITY Fall clean-up has already been scheduled for the first week of October, 2024 in case you’d like to mark your calendar.)

If you have any of “those items” to dispose of in between those times, whether you’re a TOWN or CITY resident, please contact Faherty Inc. (family owned and operated since 1892) in Platteville at 608-348-9586 or 800-848-4591.

Truly, roadsides are NO place to literally dump anything, including smaller “trash” like beer cans (which my son and I picked up recently).

This reminds me of Keep America Beautiful which was formed in 1953 to develop and promote the idea of national cleanliness and litter prevention. And I guess that “dates” me but I believe it’s still valid. Will you help?
