Friedrich, Gary L.

Gary L. Friedrich, age 72, of Genoa City, WI, passed away at home on Friday, March 22, 2024. Son of the late Ed and Ethel (Barker) Friedrich, Gary was born on September 20, 1951, in Platteville, WI. Gary enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18 and served his country with honor and bravery during the Vietnam War. On February 6, 1971, Gary was united in marriage with the love of his life, the late Emma Christianson, in Dodgeville, WI. The couple raised five children together, and Gary was an extremely devoted husband and outstanding father. Gary’s love for Emma was abundantly evident throughout their nearly 52-year marriage. He supported her in all of her endeavors and hobbies, even getting into pickling, which he turned out to really enjoy. They both took pride in caring for their property by tending to their garden, maintaining the lawn, and caring for Gary’s fruit trees. He also enjoyed cars, fishing, boating, collecting clocks, cooking out, annual trips to Las Vegas with Emma, and taking family camping trips to Lake Joy. Gary was a kind, welcoming man who never met a stranger and was the best friend you could ever hope to have. He wouldn’t let anyone leave his house hungry and had the gift of gab that afforded him the ability to “sell ice to Eskimos”. His great sense of humor, puns, and famous sayings will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived by his loving children, Robert Friedrich, Karl (Rachel) Friedrich, Kristal (Ben) Baggett, Rebecca Lewellyn, and Heidi (Chris) Tainter; grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Amber, Kayden, Amaya,  Knox, and Brixlee Friedrich, Kylee and Kassie Baggett, Emmalee Friedrich, Jackson Olson, and Brooklyn Tainter; great-grandchildren, Edward and Zoey Grove, and Miah Friedrich; brothers, John (Cleobelle), Wayne (Mary), Ivan (Penny), and Leon (Moria) Friedrich, and sister, Mary (Gary) Schnitzler.

In death, he is reunited with his beloved wife, Emma, who he struggled to live without for the past year; parents, Ed and Ethel; siblings, Helen Jones and Carl and Larry Friedrich; and grandson, Alex Olson.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 620 Legion Dr., Twin Lakes, WI 53181.
