Smith Makes Initial Appearance

Lucas Smith of Arena had his initial appearance in Iowa County Court via Zoom from the Iowa County Jail on Thursday, June 13.  Smith is in court for eight counts of Felony Bail Jumping, one count of Felony Manufacture/Deliver Fentanyl (<=10g), two counts of Felony Possession of Cocaine/Coca, and one count of Felony Possession of THC (2nd+ offense). 

Smith requested his former Attorney Tim Kiefer be excused from representing him and Judge Matthew Allen allowed the request.  Smith is now represented by Attorney Allison Markowski who was in court for Smith.  Zachary Leigh was in court for the State of Wisconsin.  

Judge Allen verbally reviewed all charges and penalties with the defendant.  Smith said he understood and asked the judge for a speedy trial on all charges.  A July 30 status conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.  Smith remains in the Iowa County Jail with a $10,000 bond.
