Flum, Joyce



Joyce Flum, age 97 of Mineral Point, WI died on June 11, 2024.  Joyce was born on September 2, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Isabella Gribble.  She attended schools in Dodgeville, Mineral Point and graduated from Central High School, Madison in 1944.  Joyce attended Marquette University after graduation and was part of the first class to obtain her Dental Hygiene degree.  On February 1, 1947 Joyce married Raymond "Bud" Lieder and they were blessed with six children.  Bud passed away November 8, 1969.  On January 12, 1974 Joyce married Robert Flum.  They enjoyed 43 years together in Mineral Point until Bob passed on October 3, 2017.  

Joyce lived an extraordinary life.  Joyce and Bud owned and operated the Royal Hotel in Mineral Point for almost 10 years and had countless wonderful times with their family, friends, patrons and guests. Upon Bud's passing, Joyce re-entered the workforce as a practicing Dental Hygienist until her retirement.  With Joyce's husband Bob, they enjoyed multiple family celebrations at their beloved home on Ludden Lake, where Joyce would cook up a storm.  Together they had many great times and fun parties with their Mineral Point friends.  Joyce and Bob traveled the country in their motor home "4 Fun" to see relatives, friends and adventures. When back home, Joyce was always whipping up apple pies and cookies for her many grandkids.  

Joyce was very proud to be a Mineral Point Auxiliary member since 1946 and also belonged to Ss Mary and Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point for many years.

Joyce is survived by her children Linda Murphy, Thomas (Terri) Lieder, Steven (Diana) Lieder, James (Mary) Lieder and Mary Harper (Scott King).  Step children Robert Flum Jr (Joan), Margaret Lambrecht and Beth (David) Lynne.  She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Isabella Gribble, her loving husbands Raymond Lieder Jr and Robert Flum, son Johnny Lieder, son-in-law Ronald Murphy, step daughter-in-law Christy Byers-Flum and great grandsons Graham Stewart and Cody Magee. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point.  Fr. Alex Carmel will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:30 AM until time of service at the church.  A luncheon will follow at Cow Tippers in Mineral Point.

Family was always the center of Joyce's life and her pride and joy.  Joyce's life was well lived and loved.  Rest in Peace Mom/Grandma.  We all love you.
