McCluskey, Dorothy

Dorothy McCluskey, 94, of Spring Green, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024.  She was born in Sauk City, WI on May 13, 1930, to Joseph and Alma (Gruber) Ruetten.  On June 21, 1951, she married Joseph P. McCluskey in Spring Green.

Besides raising her family, Dorothy was a bookkeeper for 24 years at Krouskop's, Richland Center.  She also worked for Lands' End in Dodgeville for 16 years where she retired in 2002.  Dorothy was an excellent cook and baker.  Her sauerbraten was beyond delicious and loved by anyone who ever tasted it.  It was a favorite at most McCluskey holidays.  She also filled her time crocheting Afghans for all of her family. She was very active at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in distributing communion on Sundays to the local nursing homes and crocheting prayer shawls.  She found great enjoyment with good friends at church and her coffee ladies.  She and her husband were active members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 335 of Avoca.

She is survived by her five children, Janet (John) Matthes, Viola; Mark (Susan), Bettendorf, IA; Mike (Cindy), Eau Claire; Ken (June), Madison; Kathy (Bill) Stoltz Hillpoint; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie) Matthes, Jeremy Matthes (Julie Paus), Tyler (Gretchen) McCluskey, Zach (Madison) McCluskey, Scott (Amanda) Stoltz, Stephanie Stoltz (Rob Strnad), Shaun (Elizabeth) Stoltz, Geoff (Andrea) Feagan, Jenny Feagan,  and 14 great grandchildren; brother Chuck (Bev) Ruetten, Spring Green; sister, Evelyn (Fred) Peck, Spring Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph; daughter Joellyn; brothers Gerald, Joseph (Shirley), Fred (Carol); sisters Elaine (Francis) Kurt, Madilyn (Paul) Frederick; parents-in-law Joseph and Mary McCluskey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne (Al) Schlatter and Jean (John) McCormick.  Special thanks go to The Meadows Assisted Living and Memory Care, who took excellent care of Dorothy for 9 years; and to Agrace Hospice Care for their support.
