Math teacher shortage faced by I-G board

The search is on for many school districts for math teachers and Iowa-Grant is on that list.

“I know four or five districts who are without math teachers,”  Principal Chris Gotto told the board.

The board spent considerable time discussing a request for use of the facility by a person who wants to bring in professional help to assist their children with their athletic training.  The board is looking into the effect the request has on the present policy.

Also taking time was a discussion of Title IX policy revisions and a sexual harassment policy that has to be approved by August 1.  The policy has funding attatched to it which even though in some ways it takes power away from the school boards and gives it to the supreme court.  The board approved the policy

Gotto told the board that some districts are looking at interns but they have to meet certain strict requirements and must be supervised by a math teacher.

The board has turned to CESA 3 and signed a contract with them for possible help.

The board approved a fundraiser for the football program which besides providing funding for future needs is hoped to get footballs into the hands of kids at an earlier age.
