Highland school board at full strength again

The Highland School Board is back at full strength after two candidates were voted in office at Wednesday’s regular meeting.

The board felt fortunate to have four candidates they considered capable of handling the demands of school board service.  The four were Lauree Aulik, Tim Hoffman, Jackie Benish and Chandra McCarthy-Cardoso.

All four candidates were given an opportunity to present themselves to the board and gave their background information. They also discussed why they were interested in the vacant seats.

When the board voted the seat formerly occupied by Beth Bomkamp went to Chandra McCarthy-Cardoso. The seat formerly belonging to Katrina Shemak went to Jackie Benish.

The two appointees will serve out the present terms which run until April.  If they want to continue as a member of the board they will have to run for the seats.
