Lindholm, Jeanette M.

Jeanette M. Lindholm, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 13, 2024. Born on October 4, 1929, in East Dubuque, Illinois, to August and Margaret (Bonnet) Riemenapp. Jeanette led a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her family and community.

Jeanette married the love of her life, Homer, on June 1, 1955, and for over 65 incredible years together, they built a life filled with fun, love, hard-work, family, and community service. Homer and Jeanette farmed for many years in Belmont, Wisconsin. After two years of teacher's college, Jeanette began her career in education, teaching and inspiring the lives of many students in a one-room schoolhouse until the arrival of son, Jon, in 1959.

Their daughter Joni came soon after, leading Jeanette to be a stay-at-home mom as she farmed alongside Homer.  Years later, Jeanette returned to her passion for books and inspiring young children, as she became the Head Librarian for John Turgeson Public Library in 1987. She cherished her time working at the library and continued to volunteer at the Belmont Summer Library Program, sharing her love of reading with young children for many years after her retirement.

Jeanette was a Belmont icon. Her passion for the community was evident through her active involvement in the Belmont Community Fair, where she participated in the Kitchen Band, skits, parades, float preparation and judging. She served on the Belmont School Board and assisted in many Spelling Bee competitions. She was a Den Mother for the Belmont Brownies and Girl Scouts. Jeanette was also a devoted member of St. Philomena Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, where her faith and patriotism were cornerstones of how she lived her life and spent time volunteering.

Jeanette loved square dancing and playing cards. She was particularly skillful in cribbage, euchre, and 500. Through the thousands of card games played with her children and grandchildren, Jeanette's knowledge of the game will sure to be carried on for generations to come. She was also an excellent cook known for teaching her cooking/baking techniques with others and always serving you the largest piece of pie.

Jeanette's family fondly remembers the countless life lessons she imparted, from gardening, canning vegetables, the appreciation of flowers, bird watching, writing thank-you notes, and the simple joy of eating Jello pudding out of fine china. Her love of family was evident with a gentle smile and wave after each visit, to ensure they felt her warm goodbye.

Jeanette's legacy of love, kindness, teaching, faith and dedication to family and community will live on through the many lives she has touched. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her devoted children, Jon (Sue) Lindholm and Joni (Steve) Zoha, along with her cherished grandchildren Sara (Fritz), Jake (Jessi), Brittany, Katelyn (Matt), and Shannon. Jeanette was also a proud great-grandmother to Ashton, Jackson, Jon, Zoey, Peyton, Vince, Brylee, Finn, and Theo.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and brother Norbert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM, Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont, Wisconsin.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.   Visitation will  be at 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the John Turgeson Public Library or St. Croix Hospice.  Online memorials can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
