Dodgers scare Hillmen but second half all Platteville

Dodgeville’s boys basketball team played one of its best halves of the season at SWC leading Platteville Thursday but the hosts controlled the last 18 minutes, handing the Dodgers a 63-42 loss.

Davyn Edge scored all 15 of his points the second half and Lucas Ludlum put in half of his 20.  Add in the nine scored by 6-9 Zach McClain and it was too much for the Dodgers to answer.

After the half the focus by the Hillman was getting the ball inside and finishing at the rim, both of which they did very well.  They also stepped up the rebounding, limiting the Dodgers to one shot.

“We played a very solid first half,” Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw said. “We were flying around in our zone defense and making it tough on a very good Platteville team. We were also getting good looks offensively. We had an opportunity to have a decent lead going into the half but shots didn’t fall.”

Reilly Berg and Noah Pittz led Dodgeville’ s scoring with nine points each.

Dodgeville’s next two games are at home with Richland Center in the SWC Thursday and  non-conference with  New Glarus Tuesday.
