Strong second half keys Pointer win over Cuba City
The first half was a one point difference when the two teams entered the intermission but the second half was all Mineral Point.
Landon Thousand put in all 14 of his points and Eli Lindsey added nine to key a second half run that send the Pointers over the Cubans 34-19 and a 58-42 win.
Mineral Point coach Dan Burreson used some different combinations in the game and they all seemed to click.
“This team has found different ways to win with different combinations,” Burreson said.
Jaxson Wendhausen continues to prove he is a very valuable player off the bench as he put in 11 points. And Burreson said others contributed to the win too.
“I thought our play off of the bench was really good,”Burreson said. “It has been very good all year, but we had five guys who stepped in and played well: Jaxson Wendhausen, Drew Aschliman, Jake Phillips, Tremaine Kennicker and Luke Filardo”.
Burreson added one more player to the accolades list.
“I also, want to mention Gibsen Sporle and the job he has done on the scout team,” said Burreson.
Other contributions Burreson pointed out were:
“Landon Thousand had a good night including a couple big steals. Eli Lindsey had a nice game all around. Brady Radtke led us with nine rebounds. Luke Filardo had three steals.”
