Collision Specialists expands to Dodgeville location

In 1967 a young man named Jack Slack had a vision and that was to bring the best autobody shop he could to the area.

He was sole owner back then.  He and his wife, Jean, started a family and one of their sons, Greg, wanted to come on board.  He did that in 1997 and the name of the business was changed from Livingston  Auto Body to Collision Specialists.

What did not change is Jack’s involvement in the business.

“He still comes in and helps us out,” Greg notes.

The initial business was located in Livingston and has since grown to locations in Fennimore and now Dodgeville. The Livingston location has changed this past year with the addition of a full service mechanic shop as well as a new downdraft paint booth.

“We now have two paint booths in use each each day,” Greg says. “That helps us keep up to the volume of work.”

In the past, alignment work had to be contracted out so the decision was made to install their own alignment equipment.

“We now have our own drive-on hunter alignment rack which saves us from having to drive vehicles distances to get work done,

Greg adds.  “This speeds up the process of repairs.”...
