Border control

Dear Editor;

There is no doubt that we need to do something about the large number of migrants crossing our southern border. In fact, Republican representatives in the house have said it is SO important an issue that they would not even consider the latest National Security funding bill unless there were major changes to our border policies. This bill is extremely critical because it is the only means of funding the defense of Israel against terrorists, and Ukraine against Russia’s illegal invasion. A bi-partisan group of Senators spent the last 4 months hammering out one of the most aggressive border security

packages in many years: $20 Billion dollars’ worth. There is no help for “Dreamers” and President Biden agreed to close down the southern border down on the day the package was signed.

Now these same GOP representatives have said this bill is dead on arrival, without even reading it! Why? Presidential candidate Donald Trump is opposed to the measure. He wants to use the border crisis as issue in the upcoming election. Imagine having so little care for the welfare of our country that you would deliberately shoot down funding to fix a major problem because it might benefit your opposing candidate. Mr. Trump, and the GOP are throwing our allies under the bus for political gain.

Remember that in November.

The GOP’s motto is now: Trump 1st ; Putin 2nd ; America 3rd.
