Along The Ad Routes

Breakfast this last Saturday took us to Spring Garden in Mount Horeb. Terry and son Bill were heading into Madison, so it seemed logical to go there. Bob, Tom, Potsie and me were in one vehicle with Bill and Terry in their own. Dewey met us there coming from Spring Green and Dave had the short trip from Klevenville. It’s a family run business with the kids of the owners waiting tables. Their parents are the cooks, just like their grandparents were when we first started going there! Boy, we’re getting old! I had their strawberry crepes, just like Terry did. Tom had their blueberry ones! I can’t tell you what everyone else had because the table was too big and I couldn’t see that far! The food is always good there except they don’t serve any pork products. That limits bacon and sausage to beef! The service is very good from the youngsters who kept our coffee cups filled!

As usual we ran into Chuck Misky, who is a former superintendent at Mount Horeb that we know really well and see in Dodgeville often. He was  with the Nesheims, who I loved to talk with!

Sunday Bob, wife Mary, Lyle and Mary Ann Antonson, Fr. Alex, Fr. Tafwasda and I went to Anita’s in Spring Green for brunch. We all had breakfast and plenty of it. The two priests were impressed as were Mary, Lyle and Mary Ann, all who hadn’t been there before!

The Annual Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championships will be here before you know it. They are held at Harris Park right here in Dodgeville on Saturday, April 20. We are really, really looking for people to compete and to volunteer so take a look at the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce website to be a part of it! We really do need people to sign-up in both spots, especially as a competitor as the VIP tickets that are sold and given out depend on the number of competitors!

I’ve had several comments about some of the stories we’ve had in the papers recently - people really like them They also comment on our FACEBOOK page and the videos we post there. It’s great to be noticed!

Next Wednesday is Valentine’s Day. It’s also the beginning of Lent. That means give up sweets. That includes desserts! And there goes my Valentine’s candy and also my “Mike’s Magic Mint” I get from Cathryn’s Market - at least for 6 weeks!

The Dodgeville City-Wide Garage Sales have been set for Saturday, April 20. That’s the same day as the Grilled Cheese Championship!

People have asked me what I’m going to get for my Valentine. I answer that I asked three women to marry me and they all turned me down, so why keep trying? Three strikes and you’re out!

Wow temperatures in the 50s the end of this week and cooling off into the mid to high 30s next week still isn’t too bad! I wonder what March and even early April will bring?

Today (Thursday, February 9) is Toothache Day! This seems to be a strange day to have, as why would anyone want to celebrate a toothache? The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of dental issues and promote good oral health to avoid toothache.

I hope I don’t get a toothache because I wrote about it!
