Highland board updated on school report card
If you look at the DPI state report card for the Highland school district you will see it “meets expectations.”
What you won’t see without digging a little is that the district was .04% from moving up a level to “exceeds expectations.”
That is why District Administrator Josh Tarrell and Principal Ashley Halvorson told the Highland school board to remember the good things that happen in the district.
“We are getting better every year,” Tarrell said, pointing out that the middle school scored tops in the conference and exceeded expectations.
“Our football and volleyball teams were conference champs this fall and our band and music are having great results performing,” Tarrell said. “There are a lot of good things going on in our district.”
Halvorson took the board through the data and pointed out that Highland is one of the leaders in the state is on track to graduate. She also said with the district having 38% at the disadvantaged level, the data is handled differently than more affluent districts.
“This makes it hard to track year to year as it really fluctuated this year,” she said....
