Logan 'Logie' Myles Swinehart, 82, of Avoca died on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 1, 1942, in Richland Center the son of Mac and Florence (Mayfield) Swinehart. Logie graduated from the last class in Avoca High School in 1960. He was drafted into the US Army serving 1967-69 in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, Logie was united in marriage to Bertha D. Richter on April 12, 1969. He and Bertha owned and operated the Antler Bar in Avoca for over 20 years. After selling the bar, Logie worked at the Avoca Easy Stop for many years. He officiated many middle and high school: basketball, baseball, and softball games. Logie was an avid hunter and was in the first class of Betty Hayes School of Dance. He was a member of the Avoca Ski Club, Avoca Rod and Gun Club, and coached many sports, including all of his kids, and Avoca softball team for many years. Logie was very active in the Avoca American Legion, serving as Commander. He was a member of the Avoca Fire Department, serving as Chief and was a member Avoca Village Board.
Logie is survived by his wife of 55 years Bertha of Avoca; three children: John (Kristy) Swinehart of Avoca, Gina (Mike) Wardell of Bethlehem, GA, Daniel (Tonia) Swinehart of Mineral Point; former daughter-in-law: Lisa Swinehart of Honolulu; eleven Grandchildren: Stacy, Ryan, Mitchell, Craig, Mac, Cody, Dane, Cheyenne, Wyatt, Jadyn, Logan; sister-in-law Joan Swinehart of Antigo, WI; special friends: Clarence and Sharon Johnson, Dennis Wardell; many special neighbors and close friends.
Logie was preceded in death by his parents Mac and Florence, brothers Wayne Mayfield and Roy Swinehart, sister Phyllis Frank and special friends Donald 'Bub' Randall and Jack Harris.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Avoca Bible Church. Burial with military rites graveside rites will follow in the Avoca Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Avoca Bible Church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. prattfuneralservice.com
