River Valley gets out early in win over Dodgers


River Valley guard Brooklyn Stokes turned in a 21 point performance Friday to help River Valley turn back Dodgeville with a 30 point SWC win.

When it as over the Blackhawks had a 64-34 win. Adding to their success were a pair of 12 point performances from Ella Myers and Lexi DeViney. Makenzie Woodhouse performed the point guard duties and added nine points.

Myers was a workhorse on the boards with 15 rebounds and Stokes pulled down 12.

Marlie McGraw led the Dodgers with 12 points and  Abilene Bartz added eight.

Both teams traded baskets early and the Dodgers led 10-9 at the 13:42 mark. But a pair of three point plays by Stokes and some inside baskets by Myers and the Hawks led 30-15 at the half.  

Stokes paced the Hawks the second half with nine points.

“The girls did a great job overcoming a little of a slow start,” coach Joe Woodhouse said. “We had great hustle and effort throughout the entire game. Offensive cuts and ball movement looked the best it has so far this year.”
