Early lead sends Cardinals over Juda
Highland’s girls basketball team took a 23 point lead at halftime and rolled to a 54-25 win over Juda Friday.
The commanding lead allowed coach Josh Tarrell to use the reserves the second half with the result plenty of playing time for the entire team.
“It was nice to be able to play a lot of kids,” Tarrell said.
Freshman Adilyn Esser earned a start at shooting guard in a line-up change due to an injury. She responded with a game high 19 points.
The line-up change came from an injury to point guard Addison Bedward that kept her out of action against the Panthers. Her point guard spot went to Sumaryn Halverson who ran the show and scored four points with Esser entering the starting five.
Kate Tarrell added 13 points for the Cardinals. Tarrell said Kate and Izzy Washa controlled the boards with rebounds in double digits.
“We also did a good job moving the ball,” Tarrell said. “I was proud of how well the girls handled the necessary adjustments.”
Highland and Shullsburg put their 5-0 records (2-0 SRW) on the line tonight when the Miners travel to take on the Cardinals.
