Sigg, Rosemarie

Rosemarie Sigg, age 94 of Hollandale, passed away on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at Crestridge Memory Care in Dodgeville, departing peacefully after spending her last hours with her daughter by her side.

She was born at home on March 18, 1930 in the city of West Allis, to Walter and Veronica (Pacala) Prusak, and baptized at the beautiful Basilica of St. Josephat. She attended West Allis High School where she was active in band, swimming and fencing. She took 4 years of Latin-her favorite class. The youngest of 5 children, she experienced a city life full of fun and adventure, yet endured a long wait for her brothers to come home after they spent much time overseas during WWII, and through the years she regaled her family members with stories of both.

Rosemarie met her husband Charlie at the local bowling alley in Hollandale and fell in love with both him and the farming life. They were married on August 18, 1962 and raised one daughter on Charlie’s Angels Acres. She loved traveling, learning new things, reading, doing crossword puzzles and trivia. An avid seamstress, she made prom and bridesmaids gowns for friends and family, and taught 4H Sewing. She was a talented sketch artist and sculptor, enjoying macrame, ceramics and other creative hobbies throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and taught Sunday school. In the 1980s, she enjoyed performing around Wisconsin with her friends as a bell ringer in the local Ramblewood Ringers Bell Choir. She loved animals (especially dogs), and cared for every one of them on the farm with love and compassion. She and her daughter had a weekly routine that spanned decades. They would go to lunch, shop, and enjoy coffee together every Friday of the year. As she aged, the routine had to adapt, but she and her daughter cherished their time together. Rosemarie’s daughter and her grandchildren were her world. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Rosemarie is survived by her daughter Sally (Mark) Schaller of Ridgeway, and three grandchildren; Savannah Schaller, Dalton Schaller, both of Milwaukee, Wyatt Schaller of Madison; her brother in law, Robert Spangenberg of New Berlin, her niece Robin (Jeff) Karns of Maryland, her nephew Bruce (Josette) Spangenberg of Eagle River, her sisters-in-law Sue Watrud of Blanchardville, Shirley Sigg of Hollandale, and Marcia Gort of Dodgeville, and many other nieces and nephews all across the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie on February 3rd 2024, her siblings Arthur, Esther, Richard and Adeline, a niece Debbie Bedanarek, and a nephew, Jerry Sigg.
