Beverly (Nelson) Munson, age 89, had a heavenly reunion with her beloved husband Dean on November 25, 2024.
Bev was born on November 11, 1935, in Castle Rock Township to Margaret (Hulsether) and Carl Nelson. She graduated from Montfort High School as Salutatorian—she would have been Valedictorian if it weren’t “for that one smart girl.” She married her partner in life, Dean L. Munson on April 2, 1955, at the Castle Rock Lutheran Church. After settling down, they joined the Livingston United Methodist Church. Dean and Bev celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2020. Bev was employed for many years at the Livingston State Bank as a cashier and later years at Land’s End.
To know Bev was to be loved and fed by her. She loved her Norwegian roots and made sure to have lefse on the dinner table, lutefisk for special occasions, and a family tree committed to memory. You could bet every occasion that involved sandwiches would have Bev’s buns and famous cinnamon rolls. You didn’t come into her house without being offered food and coffee at least three times. She had a heart of gold.
Bev is survived by her daughter Denise (Bob Myers) of Livingston; son, Doug (Laurie Hines-Munson); daughter-in-law, JoAnne Munson of Montfort; nine grandchildren: Jamie, Jason, Justin Myers, Josh Munson and Tonia (Munson) Andre, Alicia (Kite) Milestone, Austin, Morgan, and Casey Hines-Munson; 12 great grandchildren: Garrett and Hunter Myers, Brynn, Addy and Myah Milestone, Kenadie, Gabby, and Owen Munson, Emilyn and Carsten Bonow, Jackson Andre, and Murphy Hunt; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Family was everything to Bev.
Bev was preceded in death by her son, David Munson; daughter, Debbie (Munson) Kite; parents; four brothers: Galen (Joyce), Robert (Carol), Stanley (Marlin), and Carl Jr. (Margaret); two sisters, Eldeen (Orlin Klaas) and Mildred; three brothers in-law: Harold, Wendell (Loretta) and Lyle (Barb); and three sisters in-law: Alma (Jack), Marilyn (Kenneth) and Gwen (Ki).
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 3, 2024, at the Livingston United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday December 2, at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and again at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, at the church. Most people say in lieu of flowers donations can be made…but Grandma Bev loved flowers. So, we welcome any gifts of flowers and plants, especially poinsettias for the service.
