Sandra L. "Sandy" Jansen, age 79 of Dodgeville, passed away at home on November 24, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1944, in Shelton, Washington to Robert and Mary (Tryon) Kirschbaum. At six months old, Sandy's parents moved the family to Fennimore, WI, where Sandy spent most of her childhood. In 1959, her parents relocated the family to Pleasant Ridge where Sandy attended Dodgeville High School and graduated in 1963. After high school, Sandy worked at Bloomfield Manor and later moved to Madison, WI where she worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Sandy met Gary Jansen through her brother Duaine and their mutual friend group. They were married on May 8, 1971. They settled in Dodgeville where Sandy worked as a bookkeeper for Iowa County CO-OP. In 1985, she began offering in-home daycare. In 1979, Sandy and Gary opened their hearts to their son, Craig, through adoption; and 1985, they were blessed with a daughter, Carrie, also through adoption.
Sandy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, doing puzzles, word searches, and sudoku, and all kinds of arts and crafts including crocheting and embroidery. Sandy found joy in spreading love by sending greeting cards to friends and family or by giving them the blankets she enjoyed making. Her grandkids will treasure the cards she sent for every holiday. Family gatherings will not be the same without her 7-layer salad and peanut butter blossom cookies. She also enjoyed numerous car rides with her family through the countryside, counting deer, turkeys, or any other kind of animal she could see. Sandy will be remembered for being a kind and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of love will forever live in our hearts and memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary; brother, Duaine Kirschbaum; nephew, Mike Butteris; in-laws, Grace and Wilhelm Jansen; sisters-in-law: Jeanette Burbach, Judy Jansen and Darlene Heinz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sandy is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Gary; children: Craig (Amy) Jansen and Carrie (Dave) Busse; seven grandchildren: Jack, Charlie, and Busy Jansen, and Taylor, Lexi ( Max Maylor), Jaxon, and Luka Busse; great grandchild Lavender Maylor; sister, Bobbi (Ronnie) Butteris; brother, Dale (Nancy) Kirschbaum; sisters-in-law: Rowena Kirschbaum, Lois (Ambrose) Rupp, and Lindy Reige; brothers-in-law: Denny (Jan) Jansen, Bob Burbach and Fraser Gurd; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
