Frederking, Linda Louise

Linda Louise Frederking, 86, of Lafayette, CO, passed away on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at Waneka Park Assisted Living while under hospice care. She was born October 28, 1937 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Clifton Herman and Margaret (Preston) Leix.

Linda grew up on the Leix dairy farm in Monfort, WI where she lived until going off to college in Illinois.  Linda attended Sunnyside rural grade school and graduated from Cobb High School.  While in high school, she participated in the Montfort United Methodist Church’s youth activities, spent time with her friends, sang in the high school choir, and was a majorette in the school band.  Linda enjoyed activities on the Leix family farm and helped look after her three younger brothers Chuck, Jim, and Russell. Linda’s love of choir singing would lead her to singing in all her future church choirs she belonged to.

Linda’s attended the Brokaw School of Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1960.  Linda received her Master of Arts from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1961.  Linda spent her professional career working within the State of Illinois Mental Health Hospital system working as an RN and Hospital Administrator until she retired in 1992.  

Linda married Elmer Christ Frederking, born in Okawville, IL, on May 30th, 1959 in Peoria, IL at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Linda and Elmer had two boys during their marriage, Bradley Chris Frederking (60), and Eldon Clifton Frederking (59).  Linda enjoyed watching her boys participate in high school sports at Alexis High School in Alexis, IL.  Linda is survived by her sons Brad (Deborah) of Erie, CO, and Eldon of St Charles, IL. Linda is also survived by 5 grandchildren including Christian, Taylor, Alex, Mitchell, and Haley.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Frederking, her second husband Bud Tackman, her parents, brother Marion Leix, sister Elaine Narveson, and sister-in-law Kris Leix.

Funeral service and burial will be held on Friday, Nov 1st, 2024, 11 a.m. at Saint John Lutheran Church and Cemetery, 6614 W. Smithville Rd, Bartonville, IL. A reception to follow.
