Evangelicals: Friends or Foes?

Dear Editor,

Kay Ziegahn’s letter to the editor entitled, “Trump: Man or Beast?”, was rather timely.  The week that she was thinking about what a heavenly earth might look like, I was studying the Book of Revelation about what an eternal Heaven will look like.  She longed for peace.  Will Heaven be a place of Peace?  Yes!  She longed for equality (I assume she meant the sense that “all men are created equal”).  Will Heaven be a place of Equality?  Yes!

However, there is much more to celebrate!  Not only will Heaven be “without the fear, hate, hunger and wars that plague so many now” as Ziegahn mentioned, but God has guaranteed that His heavenly home will be without the odious distortion of truth found in letters like hers.

Should the evangelicals who vote for MAGA policies have their sanity questioned, as Ziegahn suggests?  No. Is Trump the Antichrist, the “Beast” in Revelation who will globally murder those who refuse to worship him?  No.  Are evangelicals hastening a time when they somehow “join the Jews, as God’s chosen people”?  No.

An evangelical is someone who believes that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the exclusive way God has chosen for us all to find a restored relationship with Him. This in turn provides a better standard for society, and, for each person who believes in Him, the hope of everlasting life in Heaven.

May we never fear the lies and slander which come from those who try to distort God’s own Word (the worst corruption of “literacy”).  God’s Truth will stand on its own.  As it says in Revelation,

“God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away… He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” – Revelation 21:3, 4; 22:20 NKJV.
