Dodger softball goes two for three for the week


Platteville scored a run in the first and tacked on three more in the second to eventually turn back Dodgeville 5-2 in a SWC game Friday.

A triple by Maddie Grabandt was the key blow in Platteville’s bit second.

Rylee Forsyth walked and scored on a Tommi Crubaugh double in the sixth.

Maddie Bakken doubled and scored on a sacrifice by Ava Lord in the seventh.

Maggie White and Brianna Wasley split pitching duties for the Dodgers.

Dodgeville coach Gene Van Dyck had this to say about the game.

“This game was a continuation of the River Valley game. While we outhit them by a run, our hitting was again far below our potential as we again stranded numerous runners. We stranded runners in six of the seven innings for a total of nine. Basically, we didn’t hit the ball hard nearly often enough and when we did it was right at a fielder which is just bad luck. The one thing we seemed to have cured is that we’ve really cut down on our number of strikeouts. That’s fairly meaningless, if we don’t hit the ball hard more often....
